Fall Maple Leaves Manicure

I know that everyone thinks that the beginning of September means that it must be fall, but officially the autumnal equinox is September 22. The leaves haven’t started changing colors in NYC yet, but I can’t wait to go hiking upstate once they start to turn! Here’s a manicure that really sets the mood.

I started by painting all my nails a bronze color.

Firefly from Sally Hansen’s Lustre Shine line is the perfect shade for fall.

Plate BPX-L018 from Born Pretty Store has perfect leaf designs. I went for the maple leaves in the lower right hand corner for this manicure.

After using a shimmery red polish (Wined Up from Sally Hansen Insta-Dri) to stamp the design, I filled in the maple leaf outlines with a glittery copper polish (Lava from Sally Hansen Lustre Shine).

I stamped this directly onto a nail and repeated the process to create the finished look below.

Shrinkage of the base color was an interesting side effect that happened after I applied Seche Vite top coat. At first I was a little annoyed because I didn’t expect that to happen, but after looking at my nails more, it really gives them more of a tree trunk-like texture that would have been hard to paint, so the look has grown on me.

In any case, hope you have a great first day of fall! Happy polishing!
