Review of Aimeili 064 Pillar Box Red Gel Polish

Is there anything more iconic than classic red nail polish? I feel like this is the color that confident and sexy women (and men!) gravitate towards, and so it’s great to have at least one red polish in your collection to boost your self esteem.

Aimeili’s gel polish in 064 Pillar Box Red is the perfect shade for any skin tone. It looks like what you think a vibrant cherry red should look like, and it comes in a 10 mL bottle with an easy to control brush.

The outer packaging is identical to other gels from Aimeili. The name Pillar Box Red is not listed anywhere except on the website, although a red sticker with the number 064 is affixed to the top of the handle.

You can expect the formula of the lacquer to be the same across the brand if they list the same ingredients for every bottle.

A leaflet (scanned below) is included inside the box. It includes detailed instructions and tips for applying the perfect gel manicure.

This gel is easy to paint, especially if the bottle is warmed up a little beforehand. Simply hold the bottle in your hands for a minute, and your body heat will help to thin down the formula. As you learned from the leaflet, thinner is better!

Each coat applied evenly and smoothly over Aimeili gel base coat without shrinkage. The coverage is a little sheer, but it is buildable, and each layer cures in 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp. I used 2 coats of color for the swatch below, and you can see how vibrant the red is.

Red is super lucky in Chinese culture, so I used this polish as the base for my Chinese New Year manicure.

The best part is that this gel does not chip or peel at all if it is applied correctly. My Aimeili manicures have lasted for 2 weeks without any signs of budging, and I’ve been able to file down my nails with the polish applied and handle acetone with no damage to the finish. I’m really starting to love using gel polish because it does such a good job of protecting my nails!

Removal of the manicure is the same as with any gel. Soaking your nails in pure acetone for several minutes and then gently scraping away the polish will ensure that your natural nails don’t get damaged in the process. Take your time to do the steps correctly, and your nails will thank you for it!
