Review of Born Pretty Glitter Thermal Polish in BP-GT02 Cloud of Purple Sky

Today’s review covers some of my favorite things: glitter, color changing polish, and peel off ability! Would you believe that you can get all of this out of one product?

This magical polish comes from Born Pretty’s Glitter Thermal series, and the color featured here is BP-GT02, Cloud of Purple Sky. It is a beautiful lilac shade when cold and turns platinum silver when warm.

There’s a typo on the box: it should read “Cloud of Purple Sky” as the name of the color.

This polish is a little different compared to other ones in the fact that it is a water based formula. I think this is the characteristic that allows it to be peeled off when you’re done with your manicure, but it’s also great because it doesn’t have a strong smell and dries fast. It’s also strangely resistant to acetone because it’s meant to be peeled off, so it keeps you from having to expose your skin to harsh chemicals.

There are only 6 mL in each bottle which is about half the size of normal polishes you find in the drugstore. It’s a decent amount considering that most people take a long time to get through a bottle of polish.

The bottle is small, but the brush is normal sized and easy to use.

No mixing ball is inside the bottle, which is a pain because this formula is a little thick and did not seem to be mixed thoroughly at first. The pigments did get distributed evenly when I painted my nails, and I didn’t have a problem seeing the thermal effect in action.

2 coats of polish were applied for this swatch, and it forms the most beautiful gradient effect because of the softness of the shades.

I stamped a pretty design on top to create the springtime manicure below. Notice that the thermal shift isn’t totally obvious, but it still is gorgeous!

The pictures show the transition of the polish from cold to warm, top to bottom.

The thermal effect doesn’t require extremes of temperature to see the colors change. I feel like this polish is very unique because you don’t normally see metallic thermal polishes. The finish is very chic looking as a result, and you get a very natural shift of colors.

As previously stated, this is a peel off polish, but it doesn’t peel off as easily as you think! Sometimes with peel off formulas, I lose the nail polish off my fingers within a day, but this manicure lasted for a few days before I started to see it lift at the edges. I had applied a normal base coat prior to painting on this polish, so it didn’t peel off as easily as I would have liked. I had to use some acetone to soften the formula first, but the polish still peeled off in one solid layer. I will make sure to include a picture of the peelies with the next swatch of this series that I do, so stay tuned!
