Not every relationship is a good one, and there are two sides and more than meets the eye when it comes to each one. This manicure isn’t specifically based on anyone I know, but it’s just me expressing more of an artistic side.
I started by painting my nails a creamy off white color. This shade is B268 Coconut from the March Mani X Me Box from Maniology, and it’s opaque in 2 coats. Use code FINEPOLISH10 to save 10% off your order or $5 off a Mani X Me subscription!
Although the design of this manicure looks like it was hand painted, the images all come from the Born Pretty Artist L004 plate.
I used Ya Qin An stamping polish in Black accented with BP-WN05 Dark Armor, a classic red polish from Born Pretty, with various images from the plate. You can see that the faces are actually part of the same image, which has an optical illusion effect. I had to stamp them separately to get them to fit on my nails, but knowing that they came from the same image provides even greater depth to the interpretation of the artwork.
To add to the hand painted effect, I used alcohol ink from a BiC Mark It in Rambunctious Red to color in the rose on my pinky. The marker ink is watered down with rubbing alcohol and a brush prior to applying it to the design, making the rose appear as if it was done with watercolor paint.
I used matte top coat NJ004 from Née Jolie to finish off the design. It didn’t appear quite as matte as I was hoping for it to be, but it did flatten the shine a little.
What do you think of these nails? Do they speak to you? Let me know!
