Review of Born Pretty 3D Chameleon Magnetic Aurora Series

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, I’m sure you must have seen pictures of my swatches of Born Pretty’s collection of chameleon magnetic polishes. There are 6 colors in this “Magnetic Aurora” series that span the spectrum from magenta pink, coppery bronze, teal, to purple, and they’re all gorgeous!

Top row (L to R): BP-MA01 Astral Realm, BP-MA02 Lightning, BP-MA03 The Gravity (rebranded The Summit). Bottom row (L to R): BP-MA04 Greenland Night (rebranded Night Imply), BP-MA05 Fairbanks Arts (rebranded An Art), BP-MA06 Aurora Borealis.

Each of these elegant boxes is wrapped in plastic wrap, and a label on the side of the box shows the item number and the name of the color.

The reverse side lists the ingredients, although this part of the packaging remains the same across all Born Pretty polishes.

What these polishes are known for are their multi-toned chameleon effect in addition to their reactivity to strong magnets. When magnets are applied over the wet polish, stunning 3D color shifts can be achieved. Please note that regular refrigerator magnets are not meant to be used with this set and will not work with these polishes. There are plenty of nail art magnet styles out there that you can purchase that are compatible with these lacquers, so there are a lot of design possibilities.

Even in the bottle, you can see there are at least 2 tones to each polish depending on how the light hits the surface.

Review of Born Pretty Chameleon Pearl Stamping Polish Set

If you’ve ever ordered from Born Pretty, you know how long it can take to receive an order. It’s not unheard of to receive items in the mail that you totally forgot you bought because over a month has passed! But with Born Pretty’s US Warehouse, one can receive their order within a week, which is a pleasant surprise! They tend to have sets of items rather than listing each item individually, but the prices are still reasonable with the shipping still being free. And who knows, maybe you’ll end up loving everything in the set anyway!

This review focuses on their 6 piece chameleon pearl stamping polish set. Each box is wrapped in cellophane (not sure if this is a permanent change across the brand or if this is exclusive to US Warehouse products) so you know the item hasn’t been tampered with. Other than that, the packaging is identical to the polishes from the regular Born Pretty website. The cellophane is a little bit of a pain to remove as it seems to adhere to the box slightly during the sealing process, and there is no pull tab to help with tearing it off. I had to use scissors to make an incision to be able to get a hold of the wrapping. This kind of seal seems wasteful to me, but I guess the US is known for creating a lot of garbage.

A pretty assortment of colors is offered in this set of chameleon pearl polishes.

Mermaid Nails

Summer is pretty much right around the corner at this point, and the temperatures have definitely been rising in the city! It’s been making me crave a beach day, or at least some mermaid nails!

I started by painting my nails with a black soak off gel polish from Born Pretty. I applied and cured 2 coats of color and followed it up with a layer of Clavuz no wipe gel top coat. Each layer was cured for 60 seconds in a 48W UV/LED lamp, and then a blend of teal and green chrome powders from iMethod Beauty was applied with a sponge applicator and sealed in with another layer of gel top coat.

I applied teal chrome powder to the tips of my nails and green chrome powder to the rest of the area in order to create this gradient effect.

Review of Aimeili TC06 Glitter Purple to Glitter Blue Color Change Thermal Gel Polish

As you all know, I love my thermal polishes, and this glittery jelly from Aimeili in color TC06 called Glitter Purple to Glitter Blue ticks all the boxes!

I’ve been working with gel polishes a lot lately, so as you know, this is not my first time trying out Aimeili’s line. I love their gels for their ease of application, beautiful colors, and long lasting formula. With a correct application of thin layers of gel over well prepped nails, you can expect your manicure to last until you get tired of the color or until your nails grow out.

TC06 looks like a candy grape color when it’s cold and turns into a medium light blue shade when it’s warm. It has small hexagonal and fine silver glitter pieces in the formula, and they distribute pretty evenly when the polish is applied.

The brush in the bottle is super easy to maneuver. Please watch my swatching video to see the application process!

Review of Born Pretty Magnetic Nail Polish in Aurora Borealis BP-MA06

Recently I showed you a galaxy manicure that featured a gorgeous magnetic polish from the Born Pretty 3D Magnetic Aurora Series called Aurora Borealis. It’s so stunning that I wanted to do a quick review on it, so let’s get started!

This polish comes in the updated Born Pretty packaging. The box instantly makes you think the product is more high end than your drugstore brands, but it also serves the purpose of listing the ingredients and protecting the bottle during shipment. The front side has a cutout window so you can see the color of the polish clearly.

IMG_20180915_084039.jpg

The top of the box also has a sticker sealing the top flap closed while the bottom of the box lists the name of the polish on a sticker.

The bottle itself holds 6 mL of lacquer, so it’s about half the size of what you would normally get from most drugstore brands. No mixing ball is included inside, but you will find a medium sized flexible brush.

Magnetic Galaxy Manicure

Today I’m going to show you a cute little galaxy manicure that was inspired by a nail polish that I recently obtained. Because it’s a magnetic polish, I first painted my nails with Johnny from Julep to provide a dark base.

IMG_20180308_034017.jpg

2 coats of black polish (Johnny from Julep) were applied over a base coat prior to doing anything.

The stunning polish I’m about to show you is Aurora Borealis from the Born Pretty 3D Magnetic Aurora Series, and it’s absolutely beautiful! It has a chameleon effect that shifts from turquoise to a reddish purple in addition to having magnetic qualities. I applied one coat of this over the black polish and then immediately held a cat eye magnet over each nail at a diagonal angle for a few seconds while the polish was still wet so the pattern could form. I swear that my nails actually do look like a real aurora borealis!

Aurora Borealis is a very appropriate name for this polish from Born Pretty.

Sandy Beach Nails

It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through August already! I have no idea how time has been flying by. To be honest, I did these nails 2 weeks ago but am only just now starting to catch up with my blog.

In any case, I still haven’t been to the beach this summer because I’ve been so busy. The closest I can get to one is through some nail art.

I started by painting my nails with Born Pretty Thermal Gel in color BP-5730. I love thermal polishes for their natural gradient effect and also for their ability to entertain me in different temperature settings! This one looks like a pale periwinkle blue in warm temperatures and a deep royal blue in cold temperatures. It also has the perfect sprinkling of two different sized glitters in the formula which truly makes it look more special.

IMG_20180801_122915.jpgIMG_20180801_123047.jpg

I applied and cured this polish for about 1 minute and repeated the process for a second coat.

My next step was to create a sandy beach line along the half moon area of my nails.  Continue reading

Review of Beauty Big Bang Chameleon Polish 001

Today I will be reviewing a beautiful green and purple chameleon polish from Beauty Bigbang. It’s simply labeled 001 from their Chameleon Polish line, but wow does this polish pack a punch!

It comes shipped in an elegant black and gold box. The front of the package has a circular window cut out so you can see the nail polish color inside while the back of the package lists the ingredients.

IMG_20180524_121054.jpg

The bottle holds 9 mL, which is slightly less than your typical drugstore brand which contains anywhere between 12-15 mL, but I think that 9 mL is still a lot of polish! After all, when was the last time you finished off an entire bottle of nail lacquer?

Sparkly Multichrome Manicure

I’ve still been pretty busy these days, but I needed a change from my last manicure, so I went for something that would be quick and easy to put together for this week.

My polish of choice was something that looks stunning on its own: a multichrome polish from Beauty Big Bang. They call this Chameleon Polish 001, and the color is amazingly shifty in a good way! It has forest green tones that border on teal blue and has a dark purple undertone in indirect light.

Beauty Big Bang Chameleon Polish 001

This polish alone would have been enough for me, but I added some multi-toned rhinestones purchased from AliExpress to make it look even more fetching.

These rhinestones come in a few different sizes and have a somewhat iridescent sheen to them that make them appear multicolored.

Review of Beauty Big Bang Thermal Nail Polish 019

Today’s review is going to focus on a beautiful thermal nail polish in color 019 from Beauty Big Bang. It’s perfect for use from fall to spring so you can really take advantage of the double sided nature of this polish with the changing temperatures outside, but it still proves to make even just washing your hands an entertaining experience all year round!

IMG_20180309_230503.jpg

Beauty Big Bang Thermal Nail Polish in color 019 looks purple in the bottle but turns pink in warmer temperatures.

The bottle is shaped like a small cylinder and contains 9 mL of lacquer inside. The attached brush is wide enough to paint your pinky in one stroke and works well.

The outside packaging is classy looking with its gold foil text over a black background. You can find the ingredients, the item SKU, and printed very faintly on the side of the box in this instance, the production date and expiration date of the polish. They say that it expires in 3 years time, and in this case I may be more inclined to believe it as I have heard that thermal pigments can lose their effectiveness with age.

IMG_20180321_140258.jpg

Regarding the color, I would say that the purple can be an intense grape candy shade when it is cold, but there is always a slightly magenta undertone to it because the warm temperature color is light pink. There is also a beautiful flaky shimmer in the polish that enhances the overall look of the finish.

IMG_20180309_232744.jpg

The cold temperature swatch color reminds me of grape taffy but darker.

IMG_20180309_232624.jpg

The warm temperature swatch is a sweet bubblegum pink.
