Easter Bunny Manicure

I know I’m posting this tutorial a little late, but at least it will be a reference for future Easters to come! After seeing the Easter bunny around town a few times, I decided to make some Easter bunny nails that didn’t look as creepy as the ones that I saw! Seriously, some of those bunnies are terrifying!

To start, I painted 3 coats of LV010 from Ünt. This company is best known for their legendary peel off base coat, a product that I use in combination with a lot of my gel manicures to make them easy to remove seeing as I change my polish quite often, but they also have a full range of colors and cosmetics. This beautiful light pink polish dried with a vinyl finish, but it also took forever to set and was streaky for the first 2 coats. If you have a lot of free time to do nothing, this is a good polish, but it definitely does not dry in a New York minute. It was disappointing considering how well loved their Ready for Takeoff base coat is.

This beautiful swatch of LV010 from Unt needed a lot of time to dry, and it still wasn’t fully set when I started doing the rest of the nail art. Oops.

Love and Roses Manicure

As you might have guessed, I own quite an extensive collection of nail polish, and I’ve only actually used maybe half of the colors that I own! It may seem shocking, but I admit to splurging on way more polish that I could ever wear in a lifetime. Every now and then I like to have one of my many untried colors inspire a manicure, which is what happened here. I should really make more of a habit out of this so that I can justify my collection!

Today’s feature is the color grace from Picture Polish. This gorgeous light pink crelly with fine holographic glitter paints like a dream and makes me wish that I owned more polishes from this company! Two coats gave me a perfectly opaque finish despite the light color, and I still can’t get over the beautiful shimmery effect.

Don’t let those silvery glitter flecks deceive you- that glitter appears holographic and shifts colors in the light.

Irish Unicorn Nails

If you blog, you’re almost always expected to come up with nails for every holiday. While I never used to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all that much, my nails certainly have been on board for the past few years! This year’s inspiration came from a student of mine who dressed up as an Irish unicorn for her lesson. I became obsessed with her headband, so she gave me a homework assignment to create some nail art based on it.

My first step was to paint all my nails green. I used Paper Chasing from China Glaze.

The perfect kelly green- Paper Chasing from China Glaze. Be warned, though- this stuff will stain your nails a shade that Elphaba would find normal!

For more impact and sparkle, I used Emerald City holographic glitter from Dimension Nails over the polish. To apply it, I painted a coat of Paper Chasing over a nail, dipped it into the pot of glitter while the polish was still wet, then used a fan brush to sweep away the excess. This process was repeated for each nail.

Welcome to the Emerald Isle!

Purrfect Together Valentine’s Day Manicure

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤ I’m going to show you a “Purrfect Together” Valentine card design that I created for the occasion.

I started by painting my nails with 022 Rose Nude from Aimeili. It is a beautiful classic sheer light pink creme shade. I applied and cured 3 coats for one minute each in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

Lucky Money Manicure

Happy Chinese New Year!

Frankly, I have to admit that I’m a little appalled by some of the “Chinese New Year” manicures that I’ve been seeing. Apparently some people think the prompt is simply “Asian,” which allows them to paint Japanese cherry blossom manicures or Kabuki masks. I mean, at least get the country right!

Any self respecting Chinese person will tell you that this holiday is all about the color red to scare off bad spirits and bring you good luck. Equally important is the color gold to welcome money and fortune into your life, which is why lucky money envelopes are usually red and gold.

This manicure is clearly inspired by these envelopes, so I started by painting my nails a nice bright red. I used 064 Pillar Box Red from Aimeili here, applying 2 coats and curing each one for one minute.

Happy 2019 New Year’s Nails

Happy 2019, everyone! Here’s to the beginning of a new year of more nail art!

Because New Year’s Eve is all about celebrating, I picked the aptly named Champagne Storm holographic polish from Born Pretty Store to be the base for this design. It’s a dazzling, glittery gold that really does encompass everything you associate with having champagne.

2 coats of Champagne Storm from Born Pretty Store were applied for this swatch. It’s even more sparkly in real life due to the holographic glitters in the polish.

Cute Holiday Penguin Manicure

I was inspired by the cute images on the Beauty Big Bang XL-033 stamping plate to create this fun holiday penguin manicure. It combines a wrapping paper print with candy cane stripes along with it just for fun!

I started with an almost white base. This color is called Steph from Julep, and it has the slightest hint of pink along with a gorgeous shimmery finish. I didn’t pick a pure white because I knew I was putting the penguin on one of my nails, and I wanted his belly to be a pure white that would stand out compared to the base color.
