Review of Beauty Big Bang 3 Piece Brush Set

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! I’m back with a quick review of a 3 piece brush set from Beauty Big Bang.

img_20191124_160054

These brushes don’t come with a storage case although they do have protective open ended caps to preserve the brush heads during shipment. The handles are clear plastic and are labeled with sizes 0, 00, and 000. I’m guessing that Kolinsky is the name of the manufacturer.

The end of the brush handle has an angled tip that can be used to push back cuticles.

Review of Beauty Big Bang Cuticle Nipper

Hello! Sorry for disappearing, but life has been crazy, and it’s hard trying to stay on top of a written blog. Definitely find me @finepolish on InstagramFacebook, Tumblr, or Twitter if you want to keep up with all my latest designs!

Today I want to show you an item that I’ve been meaning to get for the longest time that is a necessity for a good nail care routine: cuticle nippers!

img_20191107_005015

These cuticle nippers from Beauty Big Bang come in a reusable vinyl pouch.

img_20191107_005211

There’s information on the back of the card along with a bar code for the item. The tip of the scissors is covered with a protective plastic cover.

Yes, I know, everyone says you shouldn’t ever cut your cuticles and only push them back, but while I wouldn’t recommend doing this every time you do your nails, sometimes you get dry bits of skin around your nails that need to be removed. I usually try to trim these bits with either nail scissors or nail clippers, but neither tool does the job as well or efficiently as this!

These nippers are as easy to hold and use as a pair of pliers. The nippers have a default open position, so you only need to squeeze the handles together to cut your target. The handles have just the right amount of tension so that you don’t need a lot of strength to do the trimming, but they don’t immediately close together in your hand.

img_20191107_010150

What is extra appealing about the tip is how the cutting edge stays flush with your surface, allowing you to trim closely with precision. Care must be taken that you don’t cut into your living skin because the edges are sharp. As the instructions say, clip away small amounts at a time and do this in moderation. It is possible to get an infection if you clip away too much skin, causing an open wound, so please be careful!

img_20191107_005757

img_20191107_005614

The nippers should be positioned this way as you trim away dead skin.

It is easy to clean away the clipped debris when the tip is open.

These nippers are made of durable stainless steel and have a beautiful rainbow chrome finish, and can also be used for cutting decals and striping tape, so they make an excellent addition to your nail art toolkit.

Review of Born Pretty Rainbow Titanium Clear Stamper

Born Pretty just released a new stamper, and it’s as pretty as it is functional!

IMG_20190321_220939.jpg

The new rainbow titanium stamper comes in two varieties: one with a clear stamper head, and one with a clear head speckled with holographic glitter. I was sent the clear version for review, which is nice, although I was super curious to see the one with the sparkles!

Review of Elite 99 K12 36W UV/LED Lamp

I’ve been using a lot of gel polishes lately, so it’s only natural that I give you a review of a UV/LED lamp.

This one from Amazon is offered by Elite 99, although that is not who manufactured the lamp. The closest thing on the item to a brand name is K12, although I think that’s the model number of the unit.

IMG_20190114_010623.jpg

The box got a little beat up in shipment, but the contents were fine.

Numerous spelling and grammatical errors appear on the packaging as I’m sure that this product was made in China. Interestingly, the front and back panels look identical to each other as do the two side panels. Continue reading

Review of Born Pretty No Smudge Top Coat

Have you ever finished a manicure only to find that your top coat smudged all your hard work by making the colors bleed into each other? I’ve had this happen a number of times, and it’s extremely frustrating when it happens! Enter the world of no smudge top coats.

This top coat is from Born Pretty and comes packaged in the brand’s elegant cream and gold box, instantly making the item feel luxurious.

IMG_20181006_234824.jpg

The ingredients list is the same for every bottle of polish from Born Pretty, so I’m not sure what makes this top coat work so effectively.

The bottle contains 6 mL of crystal clear top coat and features an easy to handle brush. 6 mL isn’t a huge amount, which is a shame because you’ll want to use this top coat for all of your nail art!

Review of Rhinestone Picker and Brush Pen

Today I have a very interesting and useful tool to show you all. It is a dual ended rhinestone picker and brush pen to help with your nail art designs.

IMG_20180822_112758.jpg

This tool is similar in size to an actual pen and combines two functions: the ability to pick up stones and glitters on one end and a brush on the other to either dust away excess powders or glitters from your nails or help push excess charms back into their container. The shape is easy to hold, and the white and clear hot pink plastic of the handle makes for an attractive addition to your nail art area.

Review of Beauty Big Bang Stamping Plates and Stamper Kit

Are you looking for the perfect gift for your favorite nail art loving buddy or even for yourself? You will love the selection that this kit from Beauty Big Bang has whether you are new to nail art or a seasoned pro!

IMG_20171104_132041.jpg

How beautiful is this nail mail?

There are 12 pieces total in this awesome set. You get a stamper, a scraper, and 10 random circular plates with assorted designs. The downside is that you don’t get to select what designs you will receive, but I loved the surprise of opening the package and seeing what arrived.

Each plate comes inside a resealable plastic bag. The front of the bag is clear so that you can see the images on the plate. Storing the plate inside the original packaging is recommended so that the surface does not get scratched from rubbing against other plates or objects.

IMG_20171104_131825.jpg

Basic instructions are printed on the back of the packaging.

The instructions aren’t very thorough as they don’t cover the first steps of stamping, such as removing the plastic layer from the plate, applying nail polish to the design, and scraping away the excess before transferring the image to the stamper. Seasoned pros won’t need the tutorial, but if you are purchasing this kit for a beginner, the recipient might be very confused as to what to do.

I think it’s very unfortunate that they do not mention the part about removing the plastic layer from the plates first because the plastic is clear and not easily noticed. Also, trying to find a free edge to pull the plastic away is a little tricky, although I find that using an orange stick helps with this.

IMG_20171104_131701.jpg

You can pick away at the edge of the plate to lift enough of the plastic layer to remove it easily.

As for the plates themselves, I think they are made by Blink, but they are clearly inspired by Konad. The etching is done very well, and the quality is top notch. As mentioned previously, you don’t get to pick which plates you will receive, but I loved the assortment of designs. Here are the 10 plates that were in my package: Continue reading

Review of Born Pretty Clear Silicone Metal Chess Stamper

Hi, everyone! I wanted to share a product with you that has quickly become one of my favorite things for my last few manicures. It’s a clear stamper from Born Pretty Store that works like a dream!

IMG_20170424_133924

The Born Pretty clear jelly stamper has a lid and a hefty metal base holder.

When you receive the product in the mail, it looks less than glamorous. It comes in a plastic Ziploc bag along with a few scrapers that are tossed into the package.

IMG_20170424_133720

The scrapers are made of thin and flexible plastic. They are akin to credit card sizes, but they are definitely thinner. What makes plastic scrapers awesome is that they do not scratch up stamping plates. Also, at least for these scrapers, I feel like the pliability of the plastic allows them to scrape off the perfect amount of polish. I’ve been using them instead of an old gift card that was my tried and true friend for stamping, and I definitely feel like the Born Pretty scrapers are easier to use, plus they wipe clean with nail polish remover and a cotton pad.

As for the stamper itself, it is pure elegance to look at. The metal is a silver aluminum alloy that is also available in other colors. This gives the stamper a nice weight. It is on the stout side, so you will never have to worry about tipping it over by accident, and it snugly supports a large clear silicone head that allows you to make decals with reverse stamping very easily right on the surface.

IMG_20170424_134143

The stamper conveniently comes with a lid that protects the silicone head from attracting dust and dirt when it is not being used. Another nice touch is that the bottom of the stamper is protected by a clear plastic disc that prevents dust and dirt from getting on the inside surface of the stamper. This disc can be popped out if you so choose, but I would recommend that you keep it on.

As for the stamper head itself, the benefits of having a clear stamper are huge! You can see straight through to the other side of the stamper and also whatever is at the other end. This allows for perfect placement of your stamped designs.

This silicone material also does not have to be primed at all. It is usable straight from the package.

img_20170310_192349.jpg

This was the first thing that I stamped, no priming required. The image is virtually flawless.

You can also tell that the surface is big enough to cover the widest of nail beds, including toenails. The size of this stamper is also suitable for long nails as the diameter of the head is close to 1 and 3/8 inches.

Regarding cleaning, all you need is a piece of tape to lift off any polish, dust, or oil from the surface. If you need to do so, the head is completely removable and can be washed with soap and water.

Texture wise, there is a bit of squish to the stamping head. Straight lines may be a little bit difficult to stamp, but it is not impossible to do. It has the same kind of feel as other clear stamper heads. I would rate this in the middle of the squishiness scale.

Here are all the manicures that I have done so far that have used this stamper:

img_20170310_192044.jpg

Pattern placement is easy to do on this thermal geometric print.

img_20170315_230715.jpg

Clear stampers make it a breeze to guarantee that the patterns do not line up when you do double stamping for texture such as in this green clover manicure.

img_20170326_131222.jpg

gold veined mirror look is stamped in no time.

img_20170329_024259.jpg

Aligning veins in a stone marble look to be where you want them to be is simple with this stamper.

IMG_20170411_160324

Getting the swirling vines to start from the center of your nails is a piece of cake when you have a clear silicone head on the stamper.

IMG_20170423_201051

Straight lines are not impossible to do, or even to correct with double stamping, as evidenced by this musical mani.

IMG_20170505_002148

You can make consistent decals for equalizer nails with the help of this stamper.

I’m sure the list will only continue to grow more and more over time, but needless to say, you will get a lot of bang for your buck with this stamper! The images transfer flawlessly every time. I’m so in love with this stamper that it will be very hard to get me to use a different one now! Try it out and see the magic for yourself!

Review of Born Pretty BPX-L018 Stamping Plate

Up for consideration today is a pretty plate from Born Pretty Store that caters to the nature lover in you. Let’s go over the basic stats first.

This plate is mounted on a piece of white plastic so that your precious hands are protected from being cut by the metal edges. The corners are also rounded for this reason.

A piece of blue film covers the etching to protect it from scratches during shipment. This must be removed before using it. Simply find an edge and peel it away before you start to paint your nails.

img_20170321_092045.jpg

The plate comes with a cardboard sleeve in which you can store it to prevent it from being scratched by other plates or materials once the film has been removed. It is labeled on the front that it is from the BP-X Series, but there are no other markings on the packaging that will identify which plate is inside. If you own a lot of plates, this can be irritating as you won’t know what the design is unless you take the plate out of the sleeve, but I also think that those with a large collection also use other means of storage, such as albums, which make the designs visible and easily accessible.

img_20170321_092251.jpg

There are two separate sleeves pictured here. You will get one sleeve for each plate that you purchase.

The back of the package lists the social media information of the company along with simple instructions for how to use the plate. You will need a stamper and nail polish in order to transfer these beautiful designs to your nails.

The etching on this plate is excellent, and you should have no trouble picking up the images with your stamper. You get a variety of 24 images to play with, and they can be mixed and matched with different color combinations to suit your needs.

img_20170321_091758.jpg

I wanted this plate especially for the clover pattern in the middle row, 3rd from the left. Paired with green holographic polish and stamping polish, this manicure was perfect for St. Patrick’s Day.

img_20170315_225843.jpg

Holographic polish was stamped first. Notice that the fine lines of the clover stems transfer with ease.

img_20170315_230715.jpg

A more vibrant green stamping polish was used with the same pattern again to really make the design pop on these clover nails.

You don’t have to stick to a natural color palette to create a pretty manicure with this plate. I love the teal and white combo that I used for the manicure below because it looks so fresh and clean.

IMG_20170411_160324

Elegance can be yours with a soothing color combination and these swirling vines.

The patterns on this plate are quite versatile, and this plate will stir your creative side when you see it. The quality is good, and the plate will last practically forever with good care. It is definitely a good purchase for your nail art needs!
