Love and Roses Manicure

As you might have guessed, I own quite an extensive collection of nail polish, and I’ve only actually used maybe half of the colors that I own! It may seem shocking, but I admit to splurging on way more polish that I could ever wear in a lifetime. Every now and then I like to have one of my many untried colors inspire a manicure, which is what happened here. I should really make more of a habit out of this so that I can justify my collection!

Today’s feature is the color grace from Picture Polish. This gorgeous light pink crelly with fine holographic glitter paints like a dream and makes me wish that I owned more polishes from this company! Two coats gave me a perfectly opaque finish despite the light color, and I still can’t get over the beautiful shimmery effect.

Don’t let those silvery glitter flecks deceive you- that glitter appears holographic and shifts colors in the light.

Spring Lily Nails

It’s nice to see flowers beginning to bloom all over the place! There’s nothing like the beauty of nature to inspire some nail art.

For this lily manicure, I started by painting my nails a lovely sky blue color using polish from Aimeili. This color is 113 Strongylodon Macrobotrys, and I used 3 coats cured at 60 seconds per coat to achieve the nice opaque creme color you see here.

Irish Unicorn Nails

If you blog, you’re almost always expected to come up with nails for every holiday. While I never used to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all that much, my nails certainly have been on board for the past few years! This year’s inspiration came from a student of mine who dressed up as an Irish unicorn for her lesson. I became obsessed with her headband, so she gave me a homework assignment to create some nail art based on it.

My first step was to paint all my nails green. I used Paper Chasing from China Glaze.

The perfect kelly green- Paper Chasing from China Glaze. Be warned, though- this stuff will stain your nails a shade that Elphaba would find normal!

For more impact and sparkle, I used Emerald City holographic glitter from Dimension Nails over the polish. To apply it, I painted a coat of Paper Chasing over a nail, dipped it into the pot of glitter while the polish was still wet, then used a fan brush to sweep away the excess. This process was repeated for each nail.

Welcome to the Emerald Isle!

Floral Jelly Polish Manicure

Spring is coming- are your nails ready?

I decided to make a DIY glitter jelly polish out of Aimeili’s 065 Pink Nude gel polish and some pink holographic flakes from Born Pretty. To try to keep things neat, rather than mix the polish and glitter together first, I created a “jelly sandwich” by layering the flakes between coats of jelly polish.

I applied and cured 2 coats of 065 Pink Nude from Aimeili. This color is a transparent pink whose shade deepens with each layer.

Holographic Butterfly Manicure

Welcome, Daylight Savings Time! To me, spring seems to start once the clocks jump ahead an hour. While I don’t enjoy losing an hour of sleep, I do enjoy the extra daylight, but the time change always makes me a little nervous that maybe my phone didn’t change the time and that my alarm will go off an hour later than it was supposed to! Hence the inspiration for this pretty butterfly (in my stomach) manicure.

I began by painting my nails with Aimeili’s 032 Eur So Chic gel polish. It is a lovely dusky rose color that looks perfect in 2 coats. Each layer cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

Hidden Desires Manicure

Anyone who knows me knows that I adore thermal polishes. It makes me feel like I’m getting the most bang for my buck when I see my nails change colors. But even better is the wow factor involved when you take advantage of the double color effect to hide some stamping!

For this censored manicure, I used Aimeili’s thermal gel polish in TC03 Old Fashioned. This shade is a taupe gray color when warm and completely black when cold, making it the perfect vehicle for hiding black stamping. I applied 3 thin coats to ensure that the gray color had enough coverage and cured each layer for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

When your nails come out of the lamp, they will be warm, producing this taupe color.

Musical Nails

As you probably know, I’m a flutist who just happens to paint her nails a lot these days. It’s only natural for me to try to hunt out nail products that feature music notes, and I decided to feature one of my finds in this manicure, for better or worse, as you will soon learn!

I picked Aimeili’s 016 Tinsel Toast Gold Diamond gel polish as a base because of its dusky rose gold color. It surprised me that it painted on as a jelly with silver glitter because I was expecting it to be more gold because of its name, but it happens to match my gold and silver flute, so I was ok with this.

Love Script Manicure

As I mentioned before, I recently traveled to attend my grandmother’s funeral. For days, I struggled to think of how to paint my nails. It wasn’t so much about coming up with something funeral appropriate as it was about creating something that might honor her. As she loved beautiful things and being flashy, I came up with this holographic love manicure to wear to pay my last respects.

I started by painting my nails with color 3709 from an amazing gel polish set from Clavuz. This shade is stunning in so many ways, but it is basically a mauve rose toned jelly polish with dazzling holographic glitter. As with any holo, pictures rarely do it justice.

Leopard and Jungle Print Manicure

It’s a jungle out there, and here are the nails to prove it!

I started by painting my nails with Aimeili gel polish in 073 Kale. This army green provides the perfect backdrop for jungle foliage. 3 thin coats were applied and cured for a minute each in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

Rose Fishnet Manicure

The entire month of February feels like a romantic month to me, so I decided to create this sexy rose fishnet manicure to go along with the theme.

I started by painting my nails with 3 coats of 036 Soft Pink from Aimeili. Each layer was cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp and provided the perfect nude color for the base of this design.
