Quick Holographic Flower Nails

Things have been unexpectedly busy here, so in order to keep my nails done, I had to go for some easy stamping. Nothing is better than combining holographic polish with a full pattern design when you’re in a hurry to create something pretty, so that’s exactly what I did here.

I began by painting all my nails with 2 coats of Wake Me Up from Superchic Lacquer. This highly pigmented polish is a dark magenta holographic color and is almost fully opaque in just one coat.

Burgundy and Gold French Manicure

I had to go tame with the nail art for a concert over the weekend, so I stayed classy, San Diego with this simple French manicure in classic fall colors.

I started by painting my nails with Define Good… by China Glaze.

After allowing my base color to dry, I painted the tips of my nails with Wrapped in Ribbon from Finger Paints.

I did not paint the tip of my ring finger so that I could turn it into an accent nail with some stamping.

I used the pattern from the bottom row, 4th image from the left on plate BPL-024 from Born Pretty Store to create a fall looking accent nail.

Initially I stamped the full image from the plate but then removed extraneous parts around a single vine from the stamper with some tape.  The idea was to let the vine curve along the tip of the nail in place of the classic French tip.

I used Ya Qin An polish in Gold to do the stamping.

As an afterthought, I applied Rich Gold from Sephora + Pantone Universe over the entire ring finger for some additional bling.

Macro shot from the other side so you can see the detail of the vine creeping up the side of my nail.

The look is elegant with just enough sparkle for the holidays.

More than anything, I wanted to take advantage of the fact that my nails have been growing out longer and healthier since my departure from a job that required some very hand abusive activities!  It was nice to be able to paint some French tips, which is something that I haven’t done in a long time.  Now let’s hope all this cold and dry weather doesn’t ruin my hands instead!

Happy polishing!

Gold and Burgundy Roses

Despite some of the warm weather that we’ve been having in New York lately, it’s still officially fall.  One look at all the leaves turning gorgeous colors outside show you what the real season is.

My inspiration for this one comes from the classic fall shades burgundy and gold.  I needed to do a simple and quick manicure that would get me out the door in time, so I turned to my collection of holo polishes first to see which shade spoke to me.

The winner was Blood Hound by Cupcake Polish! Its dark and vampy color yells October.

I picked a nice plate from Born Pretty Store for the stamping.

BP-73 is the name. Roses are its game.

The gold polish I used for the stamping was made by Ya Qin An.  I have used this in a few other recent manicures.  It has the best pigmentation!

I used the pattern from the top of the plate to stamp this manicure.

I added a nice anti-smudging top coat also made by Ya Qin An and was able to get my photo and arrive at work in time without a hitch!  Can’t complain about that.

Happy polishing!

Fall Gold Lace and Burgundy Manicure

Originally I was planning to do this manicure in time to go to the Renaissance Faire so that I could match my burgundy and gold dress, but I ended up doing the day after I went instead because of time constraints.  It’s still the perfect manicure for fall with these rich colors!

I started off by painting all my nails with Cassandra by Julep, a polish that was in my maven box for September.

Rich burgundy red: Cassandra by Julep.

Next, I used a pattern on plate BPL-030 from Born Pretty Store for the lace design.  I opted to pick up images across the entire top right section of the plate so that the pattern was not the same for each nail.

Is lace your thing? Pick up plate BPL-030 from Born Pretty Store.

I used Konad Special Nail Polish in Gold (shown in the top image) for the stamping, and it contrasted beautifully against the deep red base color.

And really, that was all there was to that manicure!  It was super easy to get an elegant looking design in a jiffy.  Now back to the hustle and bustle of life!

Happy fall, and happy polishing!  🙂
