Review of Beauty Big Bang Cuticle Nipper

Hello! Sorry for disappearing, but life has been crazy, and it’s hard trying to stay on top of a written blog. Definitely find me @finepolish on InstagramFacebook, Tumblr, or Twitter if you want to keep up with all my latest designs!

Today I want to show you an item that I’ve been meaning to get for the longest time that is a necessity for a good nail care routine: cuticle nippers!

These cuticle nippers from Beauty Big Bang come in a reusable vinyl pouch.

There’s information on the back of the card along with a bar code for the item. The tip of the scissors is covered with a protective plastic cover.

Yes, I know, everyone says you shouldn’t ever cut your cuticles and only push them back, but while I wouldn’t recommend doing this every time you do your nails, sometimes you get dry bits of skin around your nails that need to be removed. I usually try to trim these bits with either nail scissors or nail clippers, but neither tool does the job as well or efficiently as this!

These nippers are as easy to hold and use as a pair of pliers. The nippers have a default open position, so you only need to squeeze the handles together to cut your target. The handles have just the right amount of tension so that you don’t need a lot of strength to do the trimming, but they don’t immediately close together in your hand.

What is extra appealing about the tip is how the cutting edge stays flush with your surface, allowing you to trim closely with precision. Care must be taken that you don’t cut into your living skin because the edges are sharp. As the instructions say, clip away small amounts at a time and do this in moderation. It is possible to get an infection if you clip away too much skin, causing an open wound, so please be careful!

The nippers should be positioned this way as you trim away dead skin.

It is easy to clean away the clipped debris when the tip is open.

These nippers are made of durable stainless steel and have a beautiful rainbow chrome finish, and can also be used for cutting decals and striping tape, so they make an excellent addition to your nail art toolkit.

Crown Nail Ring Review

You know what I’m jealous of?  All those manicure pictures that have cute midi rings.  I had no idea where to buy them until I saw Born Pretty Store‘s website.  I thought they only sold nail supplies at first, but then I realized that they have the absolute cutest and most unique jewelry that I’ve ever seen.  I’ve easily spent more than $100 on various items from them, and that’s saying a lot because they have good prices as well as a good selection of merchandise!

So guess what I managed to get a hold of?

Jeweled crown midi ring.

Be still, my heart!  This little ring is gorgeous and it has a split in the back so the size is adjustable.  It also comes in a gold color, but I prefer silver metals.  It’s really meant to be worn as a midi ring right by your cuticle as a finishing touch for a nice manicure, but I guess you could wear it as a regular size pinky ring.  I don’t want to stretch it too many times just in case the metal isn’t that strong, but the price is so cheap ($3.36 USD retail) I suppose it couldn’t hurt to try.  Personally, I only wanted this for manicure photos.  I can’t see myself wearing this out for the night because I would be too paranoid about it slipping off my finger.

The packaging it comes in is less than glamorous.  It basically comes in a little poly bag with a sticker covering up what it looks like.

The ring comes in a little bag with a hole at the top so that it can be hung up on store display racks.

But the magic is really inside the package.

Every girl deserves a crown, even if it’s only for one nail.

There are 3 pearl studs and 3 iridescent rhinestones set into the crown.  The rhinestones change colors depending on how the light hits them.  The rest of the crown is embossed metal, but at a distance, it has the effect of looking like the embossing could be crystals.  This is one shiny ring!

Bippity, boppity, boo! My nails don’t need a prince to get a crown! The polish shade is Blue Collar by Orly.

I’m just pleased as punch about this ring.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing it a lot in future posts from me.  😉
