Cherry Blossom Nails

I love seeing all the flowering trees in the spring! NY has only started seeing cherry blossoms come out because of our crazy long winter this year, so this manicure was inspired by their beauty.

I started by painting my nails with Born Pretty’s BP-GT05 Cerulean Stars glitter thermal polish. I applied 3 coats to try to get more opacity in the color as it is a pretty pale sky blue when cold and more glittery and clear when warm, but it’s still a very sheer shade.

Love and Roses Manicure

As you might have guessed, I own quite an extensive collection of nail polish, and I’ve only actually used maybe half of the colors that I own! It may seem shocking, but I admit to splurging on way more polish that I could ever wear in a lifetime. Every now and then I like to have one of my many untried colors inspire a manicure, which is what happened here. I should really make more of a habit out of this so that I can justify my collection!

Today’s feature is the color grace from Picture Polish. This gorgeous light pink crelly with fine holographic glitter paints like a dream and makes me wish that I owned more polishes from this company! Two coats gave me a perfectly opaque finish despite the light color, and I still can’t get over the beautiful shimmery effect.

Don’t let those silvery glitter flecks deceive you- that glitter appears holographic and shifts colors in the light.

Spring Lily Nails

It’s nice to see flowers beginning to bloom all over the place! There’s nothing like the beauty of nature to inspire some nail art.

For this lily manicure, I started by painting my nails a lovely sky blue color using polish from Aimeili. This color is 113 Strongylodon Macrobotrys, and I used 3 coats cured at 60 seconds per coat to achieve the nice opaque creme color you see here.

Rose Fishnet Manicure

The entire month of February feels like a romantic month to me, so I decided to create this sexy rose fishnet manicure to go along with the theme.

I started by painting my nails with 3 coats of 036 Soft Pink from Aimeili. Each layer was cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp and provided the perfect nude color for the base of this design.

Holographic Foil Spring Concert Nail Art

I have finally returned after a hectic month of taxes and concerts! I’m still quite busy, but I managed to put together some quick nail art in the meantime using nail foils.

I wanted to try out some gel polish from Born Pretty with the expectation that I was going to keep this manicure on for awhile. I used Born Pretty gel base coat, 2 coats of their black Color Coat polish, and a layer of their gel top coat, curing each layer for 1-2 minutes.

Born Pretty Color Coat gel polish in Black is deliciously shiny and inky.

I can’t get away with wearing solid colors anymore because people expect me to have some sort of nail art on my fingertips. Nail foils are a great way to have a dazzling effect without having to try too hard.

These foils are just a few of the 12 different designs included in Born Pretty’s item 41600. They are awesomely holographic when they catch the light the right way!

Abstract Watercolor Flowers Manicure

Hello everyone! I’ve been super busy trying to gather all my paperwork together to do my taxes, so I apologize for not being that active as of late. I suspect that I’m going to have to take a break at least until after April 15!

In the meantime, I tried to slap together something that would be quick to paint and look cute for spring. I drew inspiration from a bouquet of carnations that a student gave me after a concert and a plate from Born Pretty Store. Let’s get started!

I first painted all my nails white. I looked for an unused polish in my collection and came up with this neon base coat from Formula X. Because it was meant to be used underneath other colors to make them appear brighter, it doesn’t really perform the best as a stand alone color, but it does the job.

This neon base coat from Formula X has a slightly yellow tint to it. 3 coats of polish are pictured here.

To make the outline for the flowers, I used a plate from Born Pretty Store. The image in the top left corner is a beautiful abstract floral design that I loved for its hand painted look.

Because the pattern was so large, I was able to stamp various portions of it across all of my nails which added to the hand painted look. Continue reading
