Thermal Forest Landscape Nail Art

Awhile back, I tried out a holographic thermal top coat on my tax day nails and wasn’t so satisfied with the results. I vowed to try the top coat out with a different design that would really showcase its gorgeousness, so here I am presenting some thermal top coat nails, take two!

Because I knew that the thermal top coat had a slightly grayish undertone to it even when warm, I decided to pick a polish color that belonged to the same spectrum. Pictured here is 3 coats of The Color to Watch from OPI. It’s beautifully shimmery and has a slight pink-lavender shift.

Fun fact: this was one of the first bottles of OPI polish that I ever bought!

Knowing that my thermal top coat would make this color darker, I decided to make a forest landscape scene across my nails to mimic the look of dusk turning into evening. To accomplish this, I used the Harunouta-L072 plate.

Patriotic Graffiti Nails

Ah, Memorial Day weekend! I finally have a little time for myself after an intense period of rehearsals and concerts, so here I am celebrating Memorial Day with some abstract red, white, and blue (and silver) patriotic nails for a different take on the flag.

To start, I painted all my nails with Jelly Belly + Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish in 621 Coconut. Can you believe I found this at Duane Reade the other day in the clearance section for just $1.24? I applied 3 coats to all my nails to get an even finish and waited for them to dry completely before continuing.

I used the Nicole Diary-094 plate for the fun assortment of squiggles and shapes that it offered. Layering different patterns from it, I was able to make a graffiti-like version of the American flag.

Review of Born Pretty Odorless Fast Dry Top Coat

Today’s review is on Born Pretty’s Odorless Fast Dry Top Coat. Typically when a company says that their polish is odorless, it tends to be water based. I’m still not sure how a water based top coat doesn’t wash off, but it’s one of those mysteries that I’m not going to question.

This top coat is strangely not clear and looks a little milky in the bottle. If you paint it on too thick, you will notice that the color of your polish will don a slightly foggy appearance. However, this polish is true to its word where it has no harsh odor. The formula is on the thinner side which I like because it dries faster that way.

Review of Born Pretty No Smudge Top Coat

Have you ever finished a manicure only to find that your top coat smudged all your hard work by making the colors bleed into each other? I’ve had this happen a number of times, and it’s extremely frustrating when it happens! Enter the world of no smudge top coats.

This top coat is from Born Pretty and comes packaged in the brand’s elegant cream and gold box, instantly making the item feel luxurious.

The ingredients list is the same for every bottle of polish from Born Pretty, so I’m not sure what makes this top coat work so effectively.

The bottle contains 6 mL of crystal clear top coat and features an easy to handle brush. 6 mL isn’t a huge amount, which is a shame because you’ll want to use this top coat for all of your nail art!
