Faces of a Relationship Manicure

Not every relationship is a good one, and there are two sides and more than meets the eye when it comes to each one. This manicure isn’t specifically based on anyone I know, but it’s just me expressing more of an artistic side.

I started by painting my nails a creamy off white color. This shade is B268 Coconut from the March Mani X Me Box from Maniology, and it’s opaque in 2 coats. Use code FINEPOLISH10 to save 10% off your order or $5 off a Mani X Me subscription!

Floral Vine Nails

We’ve been having such lovely weather lately where it truly feels like spring outside. I wanted my nails to match the season before it becomes insufferably muggy, so I created this pretty floral design.

To start, I applied 2 coats of Shell Me the Truth from Nicole by OPI. This pretty shade has a duochrome like effect where it appears either lilac pink or golden light pink depending on how the light hits it.

Thermal Forest Landscape Nail Art

Awhile back, I tried out a holographic thermal top coat on my tax day nails and wasn’t so satisfied with the results. I vowed to try the top coat out with a different design that would really showcase its gorgeousness, so here I am presenting some thermal top coat nails, take two!

Because I knew that the thermal top coat had a slightly grayish undertone to it even when warm, I decided to pick a polish color that belonged to the same spectrum. Pictured here is 3 coats of The Color to Watch from OPI. It’s beautifully shimmery and has a slight pink-lavender shift.

Fun fact: this was one of the first bottles of OPI polish that I ever bought!

Knowing that my thermal top coat would make this color darker, I decided to make a forest landscape scene across my nails to mimic the look of dusk turning into evening. To accomplish this, I used the Harunouta-L072 plate.

Review of Born Pretty Chameleon Pearl Stamping Polish Set

If you’ve ever ordered from Born Pretty, you know how long it can take to receive an order. It’s not unheard of to receive items in the mail that you totally forgot you bought because over a month has passed! But with Born Pretty’s US Warehouse, one can receive their order within a week, which is a pleasant surprise! They tend to have sets of items rather than listing each item individually, but the prices are still reasonable with the shipping still being free. And who knows, maybe you’ll end up loving everything in the set anyway!

This review focuses on their 6 piece chameleon pearl stamping polish set. Each box is wrapped in cellophane (not sure if this is a permanent change across the brand or if this is exclusive to US Warehouse products) so you know the item hasn’t been tampered with. Other than that, the packaging is identical to the polishes from the regular Born Pretty website. The cellophane is a little bit of a pain to remove as it seems to adhere to the box slightly during the sealing process, and there is no pull tab to help with tearing it off. I had to use scissors to make an incision to be able to get a hold of the wrapping. This kind of seal seems wasteful to me, but I guess the US is known for creating a lot of garbage.

A pretty assortment of colors is offered in this set of chameleon pearl polishes.

Tropical Spring Break Nails

Everyone was going away for spring break recently, which was the inspiration for this manicure. I have one student who adores flamingos and had a “flamingo experience” where she got to interact with them in person while she was in Florida, which sounded amazing! These nails are dedicated to her.

I chose a rosy salmon pink as the base color for this design. This was achieved with 3 thin layers of Belen gel polish in color NU016. Each coat was cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

Fishnet and Lace Stocking Manicure

Wow, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted! I had a whirlwind of a month rehabbing baby squirrels, and not only did I spend most of my days feeding and caring for them, but the table where I normally do my nails was occupied by their giant cage! I’m going to try to catch up as much as I can with the blog now that they’re back at the wildlife center.

This manicure was meant to be a sexy springtime one featuring a fishnet stocking pattern. I started by painting my nails with a pale lilac toned gel polish from Belen in color NU024. I applied 3 thin coats of gel with each layer being cured for 60 seconds in a UV/LED lamp.

Cherry Blossom Nails

I love seeing all the flowering trees in the spring! NY has only started seeing cherry blossoms come out because of our crazy long winter this year, so this manicure was inspired by their beauty.

I started by painting my nails with Born Pretty’s BP-GT05 Cerulean Stars glitter thermal polish. I applied 3 coats to try to get more opacity in the color as it is a pretty pale sky blue when cold and more glittery and clear when warm, but it’s still a very sheer shade.

Spring Floral Thermal Manicure

I love spring’s soft pastel colors and seeing trees blossoming everywhere. While everyone else is doing cute Easter manicures, I’m reveling in some sophisticated floral patterns.

I started by painting my nails with 2 coats of Born Pretty’s BP-GT02 Cloud of Purple Sky thermal polish. It looks like a breath of fresh air with its shimmery lilac and platinum tones and forms the perfect gradient for flower petals for this manicure.

Cloud of Purple Sky from Born Pretty is lilac purple when cold and platinum silver when warm.

Spring Lily Nails

It’s nice to see flowers beginning to bloom all over the place! There’s nothing like the beauty of nature to inspire some nail art.

For this lily manicure, I started by painting my nails a lovely sky blue color using polish from Aimeili. This color is 113 Strongylodon Macrobotrys, and I used 3 coats cured at 60 seconds per coat to achieve the nice opaque creme color you see here.

3 coats of 113 Strongylodon Macrobotrys were applied for this swatch.

Floral Jelly Polish Manicure

Spring is coming- are your nails ready?

I decided to make a DIY glitter jelly polish out of Aimeili’s 065 Pink Nude gel polish and some pink holographic flakes from Born Pretty. To try to keep things neat, rather than mix the polish and glitter together first, I created a “jelly sandwich” by layering the flakes between coats of jelly polish.

I applied and cured 2 coats of 065 Pink Nude from Aimeili. This color is a transparent pink whose shade deepens with each layer.
