Tropical Floral Nails

Sorry for the long absence again, but I’ve been wrapped up in taking care of baby squirrels lately! Even though I’ve split the job with my fiancé, it’s exhausting being a squirrel mom, and it doesn’t leave much time for blogging or nail painting.

This design was a fairly quick one because I really wanted to do something floral in a fun color scheme that represented the heat wave that we had in August. I started by painting my nails with Aimeili’s 097 Candy Green Castle gel polish which is a bright neon green jelly. I applied 2 coats and cured each layer for a minute in a UV/LED lamp. You can probably get an even more vibrant look if you apply a 3rd layer of gel.

This color reminds me of Slimer from Ghostbusters.

Quick Holographic Flower Nails

Things have been unexpectedly busy here, so in order to keep my nails done, I had to go for some easy stamping. Nothing is better than combining holographic polish with a full pattern design when you’re in a hurry to create something pretty, so that’s exactly what I did here.

I began by painting all my nails with 2 coats of Wake Me Up from Superchic Lacquer. This highly pigmented polish is a dark magenta holographic color and is almost fully opaque in just one coat.

Rose Fishnet Manicure

The entire month of February feels like a romantic month to me, so I decided to create this sexy rose fishnet manicure to go along with the theme.

I started by painting my nails with 3 coats of 036 Soft Pink from Aimeili. Each layer was cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp and provided the perfect nude color for the base of this design.

Unicorn Nail Art

Happy March, everyone! I’ve been meaning to do some unicorn nail art for awhile just for fun, so let’s get on with this magical manicure!

My base color was an indigo wonder from Beauty Bigbang, 009 in their Holo Polish series.

Beauty Bigbang Holo Polish 009 is full of magical rainbows that are perfect for a unicorn theme!

I’ve been feeling lazy about doing freehand stuff lately, so I opted to use plate L045 from Harunouta to assist me with this manicure.

I chose to use the unicorn from the top row, 2nd image from the left, and the shooting star 2 images to the right of that for this manicure.

Mardi Gras Nails

This week is full of holidays, so here is some Mardi Gras nail art to get the good times rolling!

I planned to do a rather intricate design, so I didn’t go for a solid shade across all my nails. I decided to use a golden shimmery yellow (Nadia from Julep) alongside a glossy black (Johnny from Julep) for my base colors.

I first did a preliminary sketch of my mask with pencil and paper to give me the confidence to paint it across two of my nails. The sketch looked way better, but I also was painting this design late at night and was getting increasingly more worried that I wasn’t going to get enough sleep because I knew this wasn’t going to be as easy as I thought!

In any case, I used craft smart acrylic paint in black to paint the mask, then used a striping brush with gold holographic polish (Heart of Gold from Born Pretty) to paint diagonal lines across the mask to form a diamond harlequin style pattern.

Christmas Ornament Emerald Green and Gold Manicure

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I guess I took more of a break than I bargained for, so I apologize for disappearing once again. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of rehearsals and performances, so I simply did not have any time for myself. I decided to finally break my dry spell the other night by doing some Christmas themed nail art!

I definitely took advantage of some of the Cyber Monday deals online, so I added some really nice colors to my collection from Live Love Polish. One of my recent acquisitions was this awesome polish from Superchic Lacquer called No Rest for the Wicked. It’s a stunning deep emerald green holo, and the quality of the formula is just amazing. The color was super opaque in just one coat even though I ended up applying two coats to my nails to even out the texture, and it was a great polish to use to get back into the swing of doing some nail art again.

No Rest for the Wicked from Superchic Lacquer is simply an amazing color through and through. It’s ultra pigmented, easy to apply, and it’s holographic!

I immediately knew that I wanted to pair this color with some gold stamping, so after shuffling through my plates, I settled on using Celebration BPX-L013 from Born Pretty Store. Continue reading
