Love and Roses Manicure

As you might have guessed, I own quite an extensive collection of nail polish, and I’ve only actually used maybe half of the colors that I own! It may seem shocking, but I admit to splurging on way more polish that I could ever wear in a lifetime. Every now and then I like to have one of my many untried colors inspire a manicure, which is what happened here. I should really make more of a habit out of this so that I can justify my collection!

Today’s feature is the color grace from Picture Polish. This gorgeous light pink crelly with fine holographic glitter paints like a dream and makes me wish that I owned more polishes from this company! Two coats gave me a perfectly opaque finish despite the light color, and I still can’t get over the beautiful shimmery effect.

Don’t let those silvery glitter flecks deceive you- that glitter appears holographic and shifts colors in the light.

Review of Born Pretty Valentine’s Day L007 Stamping Plate

Today we’re going to look at the Born Pretty Valentine’s Day L007 stamping plate. I adore Valentine’s Day themed plates because love is timeless. Who needs to wait around just for February 14 to roll around to do a romantic manicure? Not me!

Love Script Manicure

As I mentioned before, I recently traveled to attend my grandmother’s funeral. For days, I struggled to think of how to paint my nails. It wasn’t so much about coming up with something funeral appropriate as it was about creating something that might honor her. As she loved beautiful things and being flashy, I came up with this holographic love manicure to wear to pay my last respects.

I started by painting my nails with color 3709 from an amazing gel polish set from Clavuz. This shade is stunning in so many ways, but it is basically a mauve rose toned jelly polish with dazzling holographic glitter. As with any holo, pictures rarely do it justice.

2 coats of 3709 from Clavuz were applied for this swatch.

Rose Fishnet Manicure

The entire month of February feels like a romantic month to me, so I decided to create this sexy rose fishnet manicure to go along with the theme.

I started by painting my nails with 3 coats of 036 Soft Pink from Aimeili. Each layer was cured for 60 seconds in a 36W UV/LED lamp and provided the perfect nude color for the base of this design.

Purrfect Together Valentine’s Day Manicure

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤ I’m going to show you a “Purrfect Together” Valentine card design that I created for the occasion.

I started by painting my nails with 022 Rose Nude from Aimeili. It is a beautiful classic sheer light pink creme shade. I applied and cured 3 coats for one minute each in a 36W UV/LED lamp.

Bee Mine Valentine’s Day Nails

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m bringing you some punny nail art today that not only features a classic Valentine phrase but also pays homage to my dear honey whom I nicknamed my “Bumblus” bee. I think he definitely deserves a shout out on my nails!

I chose a classic pale pink as my base color. This one is called Luella from Julep, and it’s a nice opaque creme.

Luella was Julep’s Color of the Year for 2016.

Bees go together with flowers, so I chose to add some light roses using the BM-H16 plate from Bundle Monster.

This manicure uses the pattern on the far right.

I went with a pink holographic stamping polish from Born Pretty (color #2 on their website) for the roses. The shade is only a little bit darker than the one already on my nails, so there isn’t a lot of contrast between the colors. The holographic shimmer helps make this polish stand out, but I really wanted something subtle for this design.

You could easily stop at this point for an easy Valentine’s Day manicure, but why stop there? Here comes the fun part!

XOXO Kisses Manicure

It’s another @glamnailschallenge prompt day!  The theme is kisses, and I might have made this one a little more intense than it should have been, but there’s just so much love to give this time of year!

I started by painting all my nails pink.

img_20170209_221244.jpg

Carnival Cotton Candy by Nicole by OPI is a pretty pink, although it took 4 coats of polish to get it fully opaque.

Next, I applied a glitter top coat with a sponge to get better coverage.

Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It from OPI has pink glitter hearts suspended in the formula, so I used a toothpick to pick and place them where I wanted them.

The first layer of stamping was done with a print from Cheeky Beauty Jumbo Plate 8.

I used the lip print from the bottom center of the plate with light pink stamping polish from Born Pretty Store (color #16) over all my nails.  This probably would have been enough to fulfill the prompt, but I added more to the design for better or worse.

The lip print could also double as a coffee bean print now that I see it in action.

The last layer of stamping was done with Ya Qin An stamping polish in Black and a few additional plates from Bundle Monster and Born Pretty Store.

Plate BM-411 from Bundle Monster was used for the XOXO design.

BP-X08 from Born Pretty Store was used for the kissing couple in the middle of the right side of the plate.

I thought it would be a good idea to make the background of the “just love” text from the BP-X08 design clearer by applying Carnival Cotton Candy over it before stamping it onto my nail (reverse stamping style), but it ended up smudging it.  Oops.  I always forget how easily nail polish can streak because I use special top coat from Ya Qin An over my stamped designs which eliminates this problem.

Love and kisses!

I probably could have eliminated the glitter top coat, seeing as you can hardly tell that it’s there, but I was dying for an excuse to use it as it has been sitting untouched on my shelf for a few years.  At least the mylar glitter makes the background nice and sparkly!

img_20170210_001216.jpg

I wasn’t terribly thrilled with this to be honest because it’s not really my style, but I used a peel off base coat underneath it all that will make this super easy to take off and change.  It’s still pretty cute, and my fiancé heartily approved of it.

Happy polishing!
