I’ve been reviewing a lot of Beauty Big Bang stamping plates lately because I received a set of five Christmas plates from them. The BBBXL-033 plate is the last one out of the bundle for me to show you, so let’s take a look!
The plate comes with its own exclusive cardboard envelope where it lists the name of the item and has a unique bar code on the back. The illustration on the front is there to indicate that the designs included pertain to the holidays, but they are not actually depicted on the plate. As you may already know, it is a pet peeve of mine that companies don’t show the plate designs on the packaging because if you use the envelope to store the plate to protect it from getting scratched, you will have to remove it in order to see what images are on it. It’s not really a big deal, but it will slow you down if you’re looking for a pattern to inspire you.
The reverse side of the packaging also shows a basic tutorial on how to use the plate, but you’ll probably know what to do with the item already if you’re purchasing it!
The front of the plate is covered in blue plastic cling wrap that must be removed and discarded prior to using it. It’s common to see metal items protected with this kind of material to keep it from getting scratched.
As is common with long rectangular plates, the corners are rounded, and the metal is mounted on a piece of white plastic for safety purposes.
10 large rectangular images are included along with 8 separate images, most of which are suited for winter manicures. The rectangular designs are quite large and measure 1.5 x 2.5 cm which make them suitable for long nails. Even the free standing images are a little big and may not fit well on smaller nails unless you tweak them with a shrinking stamper.
I used the shrinking stamper technique to make the reindeer manicure below. This involves using a second stretchy stamper to transfer and diminish the size of the original stamped image, which accounts for the design being reversed in the manicure. I didn’t have to reduce it by a lot, but it still barely fits on my ring fingernail even with the smaller dimension.
The plate also lends itself well to using reverse stamping techniques as shown in the penguin manicure below.
The designs on the plate are super cute, and they transfer beautifully with all different types of polish. If you’re looking to increase your holiday spirit with nail art, this is the plate for you!
