Review of Beauty Big Bang 3 Piece Brush Set

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! I’m back with a quick review of a 3 piece brush set from Beauty Big Bang.

These brushes don’t come with a storage case although they do have protective open ended caps to preserve the brush heads during shipment. The handles are clear plastic and are labeled with sizes 0, 00, and 000. I’m guessing that Kolinsky is the name of the manufacturer.

The end of the brush handle has an angled tip that can be used to push back cuticles.

Review of Beauty Big Bang Cuticle Nipper

Hello! Sorry for disappearing, but life has been crazy, and it’s hard trying to stay on top of a written blog. Definitely find me @finepolish on InstagramFacebook, Tumblr, or Twitter if you want to keep up with all my latest designs!

Today I want to show you an item that I’ve been meaning to get for the longest time that is a necessity for a good nail care routine: cuticle nippers!

img_20191107_005015

These cuticle nippers from Beauty Big Bang come in a reusable vinyl pouch.

img_20191107_005211

There’s information on the back of the card along with a bar code for the item. The tip of the scissors is covered with a protective plastic cover.

Yes, I know, everyone says you shouldn’t ever cut your cuticles and only push them back, but while I wouldn’t recommend doing this every time you do your nails, sometimes you get dry bits of skin around your nails that need to be removed. I usually try to trim these bits with either nail scissors or nail clippers, but neither tool does the job as well or efficiently as this!

These nippers are as easy to hold and use as a pair of pliers. The nippers have a default open position, so you only need to squeeze the handles together to cut your target. The handles have just the right amount of tension so that you don’t need a lot of strength to do the trimming, but they don’t immediately close together in your hand.

What is extra appealing about the tip is how the cutting edge stays flush with your surface, allowing you to trim closely with precision. Care must be taken that you don’t cut into your living skin because the edges are sharp. As the instructions say, clip away small amounts at a time and do this in moderation. It is possible to get an infection if you clip away too much skin, causing an open wound, so please be careful!

The nippers should be positioned this way as you trim away dead skin.

It is easy to clean away the clipped debris when the tip is open.

These nippers are made of durable stainless steel and have a beautiful rainbow chrome finish, and can also be used for cutting decals and striping tape, so they make an excellent addition to your nail art toolkit.

Tropical Floral Nails

Sorry for the long absence again, but I’ve been wrapped up in taking care of baby squirrels lately! Even though I’ve split the job with my fiancé, it’s exhausting being a squirrel mom, and it doesn’t leave much time for blogging or nail painting.

This design was a fairly quick one because I really wanted to do something floral in a fun color scheme that represented the heat wave that we had in August. I started by painting my nails with Aimeili’s 097 Candy Green Castle gel polish which is a bright neon green jelly. I applied 2 coats and cured each layer for a minute in a UV/LED lamp. You can probably get an even more vibrant look if you apply a 3rd layer of gel.

This color reminds me of Slimer from Ghostbusters.

Review of Born Pretty Christmas L005 Stamping Plate

Just when you thought Christmas was over, here I am bringing you a review of a Christmas stamping plate! In all honesty, this plate (the Christmas L005 plate from Born Pretty Store) has more designs on it that have to do with winter than they have to do with Christmas. I didn’t even create a Christmas manicure with it!

The plate comes in a Christmas themed cardboard sleeve with the open end sealed with a label printed with the item’s barcode and number. Instructions are printed on the back of the packaging.

The bottom photo shows the plate with its “protection sticker” (blue plastic film) still attached.

Review of Beauty Big Bang BBBXL-033 Stamping Plate

I’ve been reviewing a lot of Beauty Big Bang stamping plates lately because I received a set of five Christmas plates from them. The BBBXL-033 plate is the last one out of the bundle for me to show you, so let’s take a look!

The plate comes with its own exclusive cardboard envelope where it lists the name of the item and has a unique bar code on the back. The illustration on the front is there to indicate that the designs included pertain to the holidays, but they are not actually depicted on the plate. As you may already know, it is a pet peeve of mine that companies don’t show the plate designs on the packaging because if you use the envelope to store the plate to protect it from getting scratched, you will have to remove it in order to see what images are on it. It’s not really a big deal, but it will slow you down if you’re looking for a pattern to inspire you.

Cute Holiday Penguin Manicure

I was inspired by the cute images on the Beauty Big Bang XL-033 stamping plate to create this fun holiday penguin manicure. It combines a wrapping paper print with candy cane stripes along with it just for fun!

I started with an almost white base. This color is called Steph from Julep, and it has the slightest hint of pink along with a gorgeous shimmery finish. I didn’t pick a pure white because I knew I was putting the penguin on one of my nails, and I wanted his belly to be a pure white that would stand out compared to the base color.

2 coats of Steph by Julep were applied for this swatch.

Review of Beauty Big Bang BBBXL-031 Stamping Plate

Today I’ll be reviewing the BBBXL-031 stamping plate from Beauty Big Bang.

This plate is one of quite a few that the company released in time for Christmas. You can tell by its outer cardboard sleeve that this plate has a holiday vibe going on.

IMG_20181126_190315.jpg

The design for the outer packaging is super cute and identifies the name of the plate that is inside. The reverse side has a pictorial for how to use the item along with a bar code, but I still wish more companies would allow the designs of the plate to show through the package with a clear window so that this type of storage system is more practical for use. After all, it’s hard to keep of what designs are on what plates when you own a ton of them! Nevertheless, this cardboard envelope protects the metal surface of the plate from getting scratched when it is tucked away.

Review of Beauty Big Bang BBBXL-030 Stamping Plate

Thanksgiving has passed as has Black Friday, which can only mean one thing: it’s safe to decorate for Christmas! Some may not appreciate the jump start into the holiday season, but it has been proven that decorating for the holidays can put you into a happier mood. Even if you’re not planning to do full on lights and a tree, you can get your nails ready with this plate from Beauty Big Bang!

The Beauty Big Bang XL-030 plate comes in a beautifully printed cardboard envelope. It lists the plate name on the front and has its own personalized UPC code on the back along with a photo tutorial for how to use the product. Unfortunately the holder is not designed to allow you to see the actual images contained on the plate, but at least if you are looking for your Christmas themed plates, this will stand out in your collection.

Review of Beauty Big Bang BBBXL-032 Stamping Plate

Beauty Big Bang has been releasing their line of stamping plates over the past year or so, and the designs keep getting better and better! Over the next few weeks, you can expect to see some reviews of their Christmas/winter themed plates, but we’re going to start with the Beauty Big Bang XL-032 plate first.

Upon unwrapping my order from them, the thing that stands out right away is the packaging. Each of the plates has its own designated cardboard envelope that can be reused for storage purposes. It specifies the name of the plate on the front along with a cute graphic that indicates the theme of the designs that are inside. I still wish these products would have a picture of the plate or a clear window so you can see the contents, but this is already a huge step up to plates from other companies that tend to use the same generic sleeve for all their plates.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Manicure

We recently had our first snowfall storm in NYC, and wow, did it make a mess out of the city! Nothing takes the magic out of snow away like sitting in traffic on unplowed streets for hours and hours! The weather inspired me to create a gray skied manicure with a lovable icon of Christmas to try to bring the wonder back.

I started by painting my nails gray with Laguna Moon Classic Soak Off Gel Polish in color CL064. Because I was using gel polish, I applied 3 very thin coats cured at one minute each in a UV/LED lamp.

IMG_20181117_005232.jpg

3 coats of Laguna Moon’s CL064 shade turns your nails into a chic gray with the added reinforcement of a gel polish.

My initial plan was to mostly use stamping techniques for this manicure, although things did not go exactly according to plan for me as you will soon see!
